City sign two from Celtic

Glasgow City are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Claire Johnstone and striker Suzanne Malone from rivals Celtic.

Both Malone and Johnstone come straight into the City First Team Squad and will be part of City's UEFA Champions League team who fly out to Lithuania at the end of July.

For Suzanne Malone, this represents her second time with the club having joined briefly two years ago, but saw her short time with the Champions hampered by a knee injury. Johnstone joins an already impressive goalkeeping line-up of Laura Williamson and Scotland Under 19 keeper Lee Alexander, to strengthen City's force in this area.

Manager Peter Caulfied commented.

"I have always rated both girls very highly and I am delighted they have decided to join. At the end of last season, we had only a few signing targets and I am very pleased we have achieved almost all of them. Suzanne is a player we have been keen on for a number of years and we were delighted two years ago when she came on board. However, a bad injury in her first pre-season with us, made it difficult for her thereafter, and she left a few months later. However, she is back to full fitness and impressed me again last season when I saw her play. She will be a fabulous addition to our already potent strike force.

"Claire Johnstone is one of the finest goalkeepers in Scotland and brings height, ability and experience in abundance. Once again, she is someone we have tracked for a while , so it is another fantastic signing for us.

"Winning the treble was great for Glasgow City, but we need to continually improve. We need competition all over the pitch and in Claire and Suzanne we have added some of the best players in Scotland to our already very talented team."
