Carol Anne Stewart - Chairperson

Carol Anne Stewart along with current team Captain Laura Montgomery, formed Glasgow City in 1998. After two seasons as a player, Carol Anne decided to hang up her own playing boots and took on the role as full-time Chairperson of Glasgow City Ladies FC.

Before starting and playing for Glasgow City, Carol Anne spent a number of years playing in the women’s top flight, turning out for Clydebank Ladies and then Maryhill Eagles LFC.

Off the field, in her early non-playing days, Carol Anne was actively involved with the Scottish Women’s Football League as well as with Glasgow City. From 1996 to 2000 she held the most prominent position at the time in the game - Chairperson of the Scottish Women’s Football League. However, in the year 2000, she took the decision to give up any involvement outside of her own team and since then has devoted all of her energy into helping develop Glasgow City LFC.

Having just seen City finish their eleventh full season, winning three Premier League Championships back to back as well as making remarkable steps in Europe, Carol Anne has a lot to reflect on.

“When I look back, I am proud of what Glasgow City has achieved. We have now surpassed the achievements of any other Scottish side both at home and abroad in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

"It is a very exciting time to be involved with Glasgow City. We have a highly successful Reserve side, and we now have an Under 13 and an Under 15 side. We also have an extensive coaching in the Community Programme and only recently became the first women's side in Scotland ever to employ a dedicated coach full-time. We are extremely grateful to Eddie Wolecki in accepting our proposal to be the full-time Glasgow City Head Coach and the fact that he has turned down numerous offers in the men's game to remain at the coaching helm of Glasgow City, I think speaks volumens for our club and the growth of the women's game in general."
