Glasgow City sign Christie Murray

Glasgow City are thrilled to announce the signing of Scotland attacking player Christie Murray.

Christie joins the Premier League Champions from rivals Celtic where she has spent the last four seasons, having began her senior career with Queens Park.

Only 20 years old, Christie is now one of six City players at the SFA National Academy in Stirling and despite her young years is already a firm member of Anna Signeul’s senior national set-up.

Commenting on the signing, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “Without doubt this is THE signing of the close season. Everyone knows how fantastic a player Christie is, she is one of the most naturally gifted footballers in this country. She is a tremendous addition to our team and will compliment the players that are here. She suits our attacking style of play and I am really looking forward to working with her over this and further seasons to come. I feel she will really develop at this club and I hope she goes on to win many trophies with us. She has a great attitude both on and off the park and hopefully with a little bit of help, she can go very far in the game.”

Christie herself is delighted to have joined City. She said, “I won’t deny it was very difficult to leave Celtic as I am a loyal player and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Celtic. However, I felt it was the right time to move and there was only one team I feel I could have gone to. City have without doubt been the benchmark in recent years and having been at my first couple of training sessions I can see why. They are a great bunch of girls and I am really looking forward to pushing myself into the team and hopefully we can have a successful season ahead.”
