City in double signing swoop

Glasgow City are delighted to announce the signing of Lee Alexander from Hamilton Accies and Amy McDonald from Celtic.

Goalkeeper Lee joins for her second spell at the club having first signed as a youngster for Glasgow City Reserves, winning the League and League Cup in 2008.

Amy McDonald is an experienced player who Captained Celtic to the League Cup last year and has won numerous international caps. The versatile 25 year old, can play in either defence or midfield.

Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black was thrilled with his latest signings. He said, “We are delighted to welcome Lee back to the club. To be honest we never wanted her to leave in the first place, but we understood she was a young ambitious keeper when she was first with us and the offer of first team Premier League football at Hamilton at the time was too hard to resist. I always knew we would want Lee back and now is the right time for both parties. She feels she is ready for us and we are thrilled to welcome back a more experienced player, who is keen to advance her career. We already have two excellent keepers at the club and adding someone like Lee ensures real competition for places.

“With Amy, everyone is aware of her quality and she is an experienced Scottish international despite being only 25 years old. Her versatility is tremendous for us and I am delighted that she became available. I truly believe Amy can develop her game massively at this club and I look forward to her being an integral part of the team for years to come.

"Both players have really strengthened our squad for what will be a very testing second half of the season."
