Glasgow City sign Cheryl McCulloch

Glasgow City are delighted to formally announce the signing of striker Cheryl McCulloch who joins the club from fellow SWPL side Hamilton Accies.

Cheryl made her debut yesterday, playing 90 minutes against top English side Manchester City and enhances the squad for the season ahead.

City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “As the pre-season has progressed we have had to deal with more injury problems than I ever imagined. There is no doubt that this opens up opportunitiesfor others and I believe in Cheryl we have signed a player who will grasp that chance. I would like to thank Hamilton and Kevin (Murphy) in particular for the professional manner in which they dealt with our enquiry.

“Cheryl brought a focal point to our attack yesterday and showed she has many attributes that will benefit us as a club. I can see her playing a major part in our team this season. The ensuing weeks and months will ensure she gets up to speed with how the club operates and I believe she will improve in all aspects of her game. I am delighted she has agreed to join and I am particularly keen to see her develop into a top SWPL player. Cheryl knows it takes hard work, desire and a great attitude. She is also aware ofthe rewards at this club if she maintains a focus in training and playing. I wish her well.”

Commenting on her move to City, Cheryl said, “I am honoured to have signed for Glasgow City and can't wait for the season to get under way. I feel Glasgow City is a team at which I will be playing alongside the best players in Scotland and working under the coaches will give me the platform to improve and develop as a player. I am looking forward to the challenges the season brings and hopefully I can contribute to the clubs future successes. Of course I couldn't have been at the stage I am without the help of Hamilton Academical and I can't thank the club, players and coaches past and present enough for their support and help throughout the years I was with them. I wish them all the best for the season ahead.”

Fans will be able to meet Cheryl and the rest of the City players this Sunday at Petershill Park. The club are inviting all fans to come along at 2pm and watch the team play a training game, followed by opportunities for pictures and autographs. Everyone will then be invited inside to enjoy a Question and Answer session with some of City’s biggest names. The fans event is entirely free of charge and all spectators are welcome.
